Summary

Good Morning!

Today we are going to write a summary. A good summary includes the main ideas in a story. Do not include irrelevant details. You need to include ideas from the beginning, middle and end of the story.

Write a summary of a book you read. Include the title of the book, the author, and the main ideas.
Write a second paragraph explaining why you liked or did not like the book and who you would recommend the book to and why.

Example:

The Berenstain Bears Visit the Dentist
I read the book The Berenstain Bears Visit the Dentist written by Stan and Jan Berenstain. The story started by Sister Bear waking up with a loose tooth. Since Mama Bear was taking Brother Bear to the dentist, she decided to take Sister Bear to the dentist too. Sister Bear had never been to the dentist before and she was scared. Brother Bear went first to get his teeth checked and then it was Sister's turn. She was very brave and the dentist pulled out her wiggly tooth. Sister Bear got a balloon from the dentist. In the end, the tooth fairy came and Sister Bear got a dime. She was very happy about losing a tooth and getting money!

I enjoyed reading The Berenstain Bears Visit the Dentist because the illustrations are very detailed. The illustrator is very good at showing expression in the characters' faces.  I also like a story with a happy ending and this story ended with Sister Bear being very happy about her dime from the tooth fair. I would recommend this book to anyone who has never been to the dentist before or who is just about to lose a tooth. I think it would be a great book to read to a student in kindergarten or grade one.
